Speedometer 3.0

 Speedometer 3.0

Google, Apple, and Firefox have jointly released Speedometer 3.0, a new browser benchmark. Speedometer has been Google's preferred benchmark and is considered reflective of real-world JavaScript performance. The latest version, Speedometer 3.0, is a collaboration between browser engines Blink/V8, Gecko/SpiderMonkey, and WebKit/JavaScriptCore, with Microsoft also involved.

The version introduces improvements in capturing and calculating scores, providing more detailed results, and including a wider variety of workloads. The benchmark includes frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, Preact, Lit, Backbone, and Svelte. It also includes simulated workloads like a to-do app, complex web page, news site, chart apps & dashboards, and code editors.

The goal of Speedometer 3.0 is to create a shared understanding of web performance to enhance the user experience. Apple, Mozilla, and Microsoft have also released their own blog posts discussing the effort.
